36 Vision Charter Students Attend First Lego League Robotics Regionals
Congratulations to Vision Charter school’s First Lego League robotics teams including The Terminators, Mammal Madness, Crazy Cobras, and the RadioActive Raccoons! These teams were made up of 36 fourth through eighth-grade students ranging from rookie members to students who are in their fourth year on a First Lego League robotics team. Teams work all season on building a robot and programming it to autonomously navigate an obstacle course and accomplish missions on a field. In addition to robotics and programming, the team focuses on solving problems, creative thinking, researching, team work, developing an innovative solution to a real-world problem, and presenting their findings to a panel of judges and community members.
The Mammal Madness Team had an amazing final run of their robot at the Meridian Regional Qualifier, moving them from the bottom of the scoreboard solidly into second place with 136 points! They overcame all kinds of obstacles and received a Judges’ Award entitled – “All for One and One for All”! The Terminators received a Judges’ Award for leaving a “Lasting Impression” in all of the judged categories. Thank you to all of the coaches, parents, volunteers, mentors, sponsors, and team members who made this season possible!
